Valona Plein Air Paint Out

The is a mixed medium plein air paint out held in the Valona District in Crockett, CA -- a scenic area that has attracted painters for decades. The Valona District covers a wide range of subjects: open space, river views, bridges, C&H Sugar factory, rustic marina, hillside vistas and quaint neighborhoods. I will paint throughout the week and submit three paintings for the weekend exhibit and sale.

Of the 650+ entries reviewed for this exhibit, my painting Bennett Valley was accepted as one of the few 185 pieces juried into the show. The Bedford Gallery in Walnut Creek, CA is a prestigious venue, so I am honored to be among the local Bay Area artists they have chosen to recognize.

 14th Annual San Ramon Valley Open Studios
June 7-8, 2008 (Saturday & Sunday), 10am-5pm
This annual tour of artists' studios in the San Ramon, Danville & Alamo area gives the public a rare opportunity to see how art is created and to meet the talented people who are passionate enough to pursue this work. There will be a preview exhibit in downtown Danville that will display examples of participating artists' work throughout the weekend. Portion of art sales go to fund grants to art teachers in the San Ramon Valley School District. (More details to come)

Tao House Exhibit

I am honored to be invited to paint scenes at the Tao House to be included in an exhibit during the 2008 Int'l Eugene O'Neill Conference. This estate belonged to the late O'Neill (received four Pulitzer Prizes for his work and is the only American playwright to have been awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature). This event is co-sponsored by the National Parks Service, and will receive attendees from around the globe. Hosted at the Pioneer Art Gallery, at 524 Hartz Ave, Danville CA (Tues-Fri, 3-7pm, Sat 11am-7pm, Sun 1-5pm).

Carmel Art Festival - Plein Air Event
Gallery Reception: May 15-18, 2008 (Thur - Sun)
Exhibition & Silent Auction: May 17 (Sat) 10am-6pm

Quick Draw: May 18 (Sun) 9-11am, Auction starts at 11am
 Sixty renowned plein air painters from around the country have been invited to participate in this 15th annual festival. Artists will paint scenes in oil, watercolor and pastel on location around the Carmel area and Monterey Peninsula on Thursday & Friday. All work will be publicly judged, awarded and silent-auctioned on Saturday & Sunday. Award winners will be challenged to complete a painting in the Quick-Draw on Sunday (9-11am) in downtown Carmel; wet paintings will be live-auctioned.

"Sierra Sunrise" won 3rd Place!
I have three paintings juried in to this show: "Sierra Sunrise," "Another Day in the Field" and "Mt. Diablo Trail." A portion of sales go toward grants for art programs in the San Ramon Valley School District.
